Javaid Akhtar is an Advocate of the High Courts of Pakistan since 2005 and advises on corporate, commercial and dispute resolution matters.
Javaid is a qualified solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales and started his career with the London law firm Cameron Markby Hewitt (now CMS Cameron McKenna). Javaid continued his career in Pakistan (between Islamabad and Karachi), working in house with the UK based oil company LASMO Oil (acquired by Eni) and with the law firm Amhurst Brown. In 2018 Amhurst Brown merged with Vellani & Vellani, and Javaid now manages the Firm’s Islamabad office.
Javaid’s practice focusses on advising local and global clients in the oil, gas and infrastructure sectors in all spheres of their activity such as acquiring assets, licensing, commercial contracts and exits and acquisitions and divestments. Furthermore, he routinely advises on all aspects of foreign direct investment, regulatory and compliance and general commercial matters.
