Abdur Rahman completed his LL.B from the University of Sussex at Brighton and was called to the Bar from the Inner Temple in the year 2000. He initially joined Vellani in the year 2001 and left to join his family firm of M. Naim ur Rahman and Associates. On the merger of the firm of M. Naim ur Rahman and Associates with Vellani & Vellani, in July 2015 Abdur Rahman rejoined Vellani as a Partner heading the Litigation Department of the firm.
Enrolled in the Supreme Court in the year 2016, Abdur Rahman brings an extensive range of experience having litigated at nearly all forums in Pakistan. He was recently appointed as an Amicus Curiae to assist the Supreme Court of Pakistan in a matter pertaining to Local Government jurisdiction to regulate the media industry and has been appointed over 30 times as Amicus Curiae by the High Court of Sindh at Karachi. Aside from his appearances in courts in Pakistan he has appeared as an Expert Witness before the Courts in the United States of America and is a CEDR qualified Mediator and a CEDR qualified Master Trainer in Mediation.
In addition to his legal practice Abdur Rahman also helped to establish and was a Lecture in Law teaching Contract Law, Company Law, Constitution and Administrative Law, Environmental Law and Property Law at the Aga Khan University, Hamdard University and also at institutions teaching the University of London External Program in Pakistan
