Hamid is based in the Islamabad office.  His focus is on litigation and arbitration.

  • Extensive experience acting for local and foreign clients in defending and prosecuting litigation matters in the courts of Pakistan, including suits for declarations, injunctions, specific performance, breach of contract, recovery, bails, legal heirships, family matters and constitutional petitions.
  • Handled enforcement proceedings, including then enforcement of a foreign decree in Pakistan.
  • Pursued claims and defences in special courts and under special statutes, including complaints under the Illegal Dispossessions Act, Consumer Protection Acts (federal and provincial), Customs Appellate Tribunal, National Accountability Courts, emigrations matters in Central Courts FIA, special offences with respect to banks and employment matters.
  • A key team member in a lengthy ICC arbitration in Singapore (2009-2014) defending a case brought by a private electricity producer against WAPDA.
  • Also key member for implementation of Apex Court’s Judgment on behalf of Ministry of Law Justice in the Swiss money laundering case.
  • Assisted in giving elaborate legal advice in various areas, including media related matters (defamation and setting up a foreign news agency), contractual disputes, employment, service process of foreign courts in Pakistan, leases, stamp duty, customs, trademarks, environment and consumer protection.
  • Worked extensively on land matters in and around the Islamabad Capital Territory, including inspecting records held by revenue departments and the Capital Development Authority.
