Sana has extensive experience in Intellectual Property, including, without limitation, trademarks, copyrights and domain names. Sana has worked and continues to work with the best IP professionals and teams around the world, and provide technically sound, innovative and holistic advice to her clients by understanding client’s commercial needs.
Sana is a member of the Pakistan Industrial and Intellectual Property Association, the Karachi Bar Association, the Sindh High Court Bar Association, the International Trademarks Association (INTA) (based on firm’s membership), Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) and Inter Pacific Bar Association (IPBA).
Sana has also written articles for International Law Office (“ILO”) providing updates on IP and Anti-Trust Laws.
Lead teams dedicated to maintain, protect and enforce IP rights of clients belonging to sectors as diverse as confectionary, food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, tobacco, clothing and IT, with extensive IP portfolios;
Advised clients on filing strategies; with the aim to secure maximum protection for clients at the minimum possible costs;
Advised clients in relation to branding and marketing of brands and artworks, particularly, in the context of the peculiarities of the Pakistani markets;
Filed and pursued oppositions, rectification and invalidation actions before the Trade Marks Registry and Copyright Office, Pakistan;
Advised clients in relation to IP litigation matters, including, in particular, filing, preparing and pursuing civil actions for IP infringement, passing off and unfair competition and exploring settlement options and represented clients before the IP Tribunals and Courts and has been successful in securing ad interim ex part injunctions.
Counseled clients with regard to border control measures and initiated and pursued enforcement actions before Customs Authorities;
Advised clients on the enforcement of domain names either through civil actions or through administrative proceedings under the Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy;
Pursued complaints before the Competition Commission of Pakistan under and pursuant to prohibitive provisions regarding deceptive marketing practices; and
Advised and drafted commercial documents, including, without limitation, agreements on licensing and assignment of various rights including trade secret, trademark, copyright and “know-how”.

Advised on the merger of Pakistan Papersack Limited and Khyber Paper Limited into Thal Limited;
Advised on the merger of Pharmacia Pakistan (Private) Limited and Parke, Davis & Company, Limited;
Advised on the merger of Parke, Davis & Company, Limited and Pfizer Pakistan Limited;
Advised International Industries Limited in relation to the hive down of its Steel Project into its subsidiary, International Steels Limited;
Advised International Industries Limited in connection with the divestment of its 45% shareholding in International Steels Limited through the Offer for Sale and the Book Building process; and
Advised International Industries Limited in the sale of shares of International Steels Limited to International Finance Corporation.
Corporate and Commercial
Advised, drafted and negotiated commercial contracts, including, without limitation, license agreements, work for hire agreements, production agreements, royalty agreements and distribution agreements;
Advised local and international clients upon matters related to anti-trust, consumer protection, data protection, defamation and cyber laws;
Advised clients on laws governing and regulating media and laws ancillary thereto, including, without limitation, laws with regard to advertisements and content (hate speech); and
Advised on local compliance, including with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan and the Competition Commission of Pakistan.
