Mumtaz is working in Vellani for over two decades and is now a Senior Associate and has vast experience and specializes in the area of Intellectual Property rights and has been actively involved in protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights in relation to trademarks, copyright and domain names. Mumtaz specialises in acquisitions and recordals, and her experience particularly includes drafting, finalising and filing of the documents/requests relating to the Recordals (assignments, mergers, change of names, addresses and registered users of trademark matters). Nevertheless, she handles matters relating to third party conflicts, including processing and prosecuting of trade mark applications, oppositions, rectifications/cancellations, infringements and all other related matters. She has also participated in contentious proceedings before the Trade Marks Registry and Copyright Board.
She is enrolled as an advocate with the Sindh Bar Council and is a member of the Karachi Bar Association and of the Pakistan Industrial & Intellectual Property Rights Association (PIPRA) and a member of Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA). She is also a member of Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) and a member of International Trademarks Association (INTA) (based on firm’s membership).
