Fehem Hashmi Advocate High Courts of Pakistan

Fehem is an Advocate of the High Court and advises on corporate, commercial and dispute resolution matters.

Fehem started his career at Vellani & Vellani and has also practiced in the Middle East with two prestigious global law firms, namely, Baker & McKenzie and Clifford Chance Law Firm, at their Riyadh offices where he advised a number of important global institutional clients on major cross-border M&A transactions, joint ventures, restructurings and on dispute resolution matters.

He returned to Pakistan in 2017 to take up a partnership with Vellani & Vellani and advises on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, restructurings, foreign direct investment, anti-trust, general commercial contracts and dispute resolution matters.

Mergers & Acquisitions, Capital Markets:

  • Acquisition by Mega Conglomerate (Pakistan) Limited of the largest individual shareholding interest in the capital of Hub Power Company Limited
  • Acquisition of the shares by a foreign shareholder and consolidation of shareholding in a Pakistani listed company
  • Acquisition by Shanghai Electric Power of the shares in the capital of K-Electric Limited
  • Joint manufacturing set-up between a foreign company and the Pakistani listed company engaged in the manufacture of food stuff and confectionary
  • Advising with respect to a Pakistani subsidiary of a company being listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange

Restructuring:
  • Restructuring of a leading Pakistani brand in the retail and fashion sector in Pakistan and abroad
  • Restructuring of a leading Pakistani franchise in the food and beverages sector 
  • Restructuring of a family group with interests in multiple sectors, including listed and private companies
  • Restructuring of a group of companies engaged in the apparel and personal care business

  • Member of the Law Society of England and Wales, Sindh Bar Council, Karachi Bar Association and the Inter Pacific Bar Association.
  • 2009 – 2012 - Lecturer of the Company Law and English Legal System for LLB (Hons).
  • Founding member and trustee of HELP IN A BOX FOUNDATION, a charitable trust that is involved in rehabilitation of victims of natural disasters in Pakistan.
  • Contributed to an article for the International Law Office on anti-competitive practices in the paints industry in Pakistan.
  • Contributed to journals published by the World Bank and International Finance Corporation in connection with cross-border investments in Pakistan.
