Litigation & Family Law

Advised and represented major corporate clients on matters pending before the lower courts of Sindh and assists senior counsel in matters before the High Court of Sindh at Karachi.

Has also advised and represented individuals in more sensitive matters relating to family law including divorce, child settlement agreements and sexual harassment claims. Has also represented Clients in the drafting and filing of Khula applications in the lower courts of Sindh at Karachi.

Corporate and commercial

Acted in and advised upon a broad range of legal and contractual matters, including compliance, company management, shareholder agreements, pure food laws, environmental laws, labour laws, stamp duty and trademarks.

Acted on behalf of companies by undertaking due diligence exercises of local companies for the acquisition of shares.

Banking and Finance

Represented the financiers on power projects the scope of which included conducting due diligence of companies, drafting, negotiating and reviewing facility agreements, security documents and other agreements in relation to the finance facility being granted by the financiers to their customers and ensuring the facilities created are duly registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan.

Property

Advised and represented individuals in the sale of their immovable property to local buyers, drafted, negotiated and reviewed agreements of sale, conveyance deeds and other agreements in relation to the maintenance and design of the immovable properties.  Also advise and act on behalf of individuals in the purchase and gifting of properties, drafted and negotiated agreements of sale and conveyance deeds, registration of conveyance deeds and the mutation of properties with the relevant land registries.

Inheritance

Advised and represented individuals in matters relating to inheritance, drafting and filing of succession applications at the High Court of Sindh at Karachi and subsequently advised on the completion of such transfers pursuant to the grant of succession certificates and letters of administration.

Intellectual Property

Represented multinationals and local clients in matters pertaining to their trademarks in Pakistan which included filing applications for registration, responding to official letters from the Intellectual Property Organization to waive objections against the registration and successfully opposed the registration of marks in Pakistan.  Successfully represented a multinational in a matter relating to the unauthorized use of their trademark in an infringing domain name.  Conducted searches for multinationals in the oil and gas industry at the Trade Marks Registry and advised on the availability and registrability of proposed marks.
