Mr. Munawar Akhtar

Munawar Akhtar is a consultant of the Firm with a broad professional career and, until 2018, was senior partner of the law firm, Amhurst Brown.
In 1961 he was called to the Bar in Lincoln's Inn and successfully practiced in Lahore until 1980. Then he moved to England and qualified as a Solicitor and became partner of the London solicitor's firms Wilde Sapte and Amhurst Brown Colombotti (now Howard Kennedy). In 1993 he returned to set up a branch of Amhurst Brown in Islamabad, which rapidly took root as a leading corporate practice in Pakistan.
His focus is litigation and foreign arbitration, but has a broad experience of general advisory work. His litigation experience is in all courts in Pakistan and the High Court in England and has successfully conducted a number of large international arbitrations.
As senior partner of Amhurst Brown, he appreciated the benefits to be had for both firms by merging.
Mr. Anwer Ghani
Mr. Anwer Ghani is a science graduate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from the University of Karachi. He joined the firm in 1969 and worked closely with the late senior partner of the firm, F .W. Vellani. He is responsible for providing advice to clients' on matters relating to patent, design and Registered Layout-designs of integrated circuits and other related matters. He handles patent/design procurement, advises clients' regarding Examination Reports, drafting of claims, general correspondence, assignments, oppositions, infringement and attending hearings before the Controller of Patents. Mr. Ghani is a member of The Pakistan Industrial & Intellectual Property Rights (PIPRA) and a member of International Trademarks Association (INTA) (based on firm's membership).
Mr. Khawja Mansoor
Mr. Khawja Mansoor joined the firm in 1975 and having been a senior associate is now a Consultant at the firm. Mr. Mansoor is an advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, authorised to appear in all High Courts and all other courts and tribunals subordinate thereto throughout the country. Mr. Khawja Mansoor specializes in Intellectual Property such as trademarks, patents, copyrights, trade secrets etc. including preparation and processing of applications, oppositions, rectifications, infringements, passing off and other all related issues, research and opinions thereon. In areas of civil litigation he has expertise in matters including those relating to Civil Damages, Intellectual Property, Real Estate, Contracts, Banking, Family laws and Corporate matters. Mr. Mansoor represents clients before the Supreme Court, High Courts, and the District Courts of Karachi, Rawalpindi, Multan, Lahore, Peshawar and Islamabad.
In addition to his legal practice, he was elected as a member of the managing committee of District Bar Association Dacca, East Pakistan from 1969 to 1970. After migration to Karachi he was elected as (Honorary) General Secretary Co-operative Housing Society District Bar Association Karachi in the year 1987 to 1988. He has been elected as a member Sindh Bar Council for terms of five years in the years 1994, 1999 and 2005 and was elected to serve as Vice Chairman Sindh Bar Council from 1999 to 2000 and as Chairman Executive Committee Sindh Bar Council from 2006 to 2007. In the years 2008 and 2009 he was elected as member Managing Committee of the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan and served as its Vice President. Mr. Mansoor was also elected as the Chairman of Pakistan Industrial & Intellectual Property Rights Association of Pakistan (PIPRA) in the year 1998 and he held this position till 2015. He was also nominated as member of the Policy Board of the Intellectual Property Organisation of Pakistan (an Organisation under Cabinet Division of the Government of Pakistan). Mr. Mansoor is also a member of Asian Patents Attorneys Association (APAA), International Trademarks Association (INTA) (based on firm's membership), Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA), Karachi Tax Bar Association, Karachi Bar Association, Sindh High Court Bar Association and the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan.
Mr. M. Naim-ur-Rahman
After completing his primary and secondary education in Pakistan, M. Naim ur Rahman attended the University College London and was called to the Bar from the Inner Temple in 1961. He began his practice in the same year at Karachi and after having worked at his family firm he was enrolled as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 1971. He took on the opportunity in 1971 to work as a Legal Advisor to a multinational oil company based in Pakistan. He returned to full time practice in 1973 and has since been practising in the High Courts and Supreme Court of Pakistan. He was appointed as Standing Counsel to the Federation of Pakistan in 1991 and as a Deputy Attorney General for the Federation of Pakistan from 1997 until 2003. Having practised for over 55 years he continues to appear before the High Court and the Supreme Court of Pakistan and joined the firm in July 2015 as a Consultant.
Mr. Javed Safdar Tanwiri

Since joining the firm in 1979 Javed has maintained a special interest in intellectual property matters, and over the years has been involved in a wide range of litigations and commercial matters concerning trade marks, geographical indications, designs, copyrights, electronic commerce law, Co-operative Societies, Rent, Succession, etc. He advises on a wide range of commercial transactions involving IP rights. His experience includes the preparation, processing and prosecution of applications, oppositions, rectifications, appeal and suit pleadings and other actions in the courts and at the Pakistan Trade Marks Office. He has appeared before various District & High Courts in Pakistan including at Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi & Islamabad. Javed is now also an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and has appeared before the Supreme Court of Pakistan alongside senior counsels. He has also conducted many proceedings before the Pakistan Trademarks Office, the Pakistan Copyright Board, Controller of Patents and Registrar of Designs. Apart from participating in many Intellectual Property/Law conferences, workshops and seminars both locally and abroad, Javed has also made presentations on various topics concerning Intellectual Property. In addition Javed has experience in the area of general corporate representation. He was the Joint Secretary of Pakistan Industrial and Intellectual Property Rights Association (PIPRA) for six years, Senior Vice Chairman-II for a number of years and is now the Senior Vice Chairman I of the said Association. He is also a member of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) having attended many APAA Council & General Meetings abroad and was also on the Designs & Copyright Standing Committees of APAA for a number of years. He is also a member of the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan, Sindh High Court Bar Association, Karachi Tax Bar Association, International Trademarks Association (INTA) (based on firm's membership) and also a member of Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA).
